Recruiting Report: Zion Griffin (2018)

With summer league and the AAU sessions in full swing as we get deeper into the summer months I wanted to shed some light on players that I have seen improve over the course of the last few months. The first player I wanted to spotlight is 2018 Hinsdale South do it all forward Zion Griffin. He has seen his recruitment pick up over the last several weeks and I anticipate that to continue as he continues on the AAU Circuit 17U with Hoopers BBall Club. He was also invited to participate in the 2017 PowerAde All-American Camp this July in Charlotte, NC.
After seeing him during the summer league I saw Zion display a smooth shooting touch all the way out to the 3pt line and the ability to continue to post up on the low block with a wide variety of moves turning over both shoulders. He displayed an improved handle in the open court on multiple possessions taking the rebound the full length of the court and either scoring himself or creating a scoring opportunity for a teammate.
“I see myself being able to play the 1-4 spots on the next level” Zion Griffin.
As of press, Zion currently hold 5 scholarship offers: Chicago St., Wright St. UTEP, Western Michigan and St. Cloud St. He informed me that on Wednesday June 28, 2017 he will be taking an unofficial to UIC. He has already taking an unofficial visit to Loyola University earlier this summer and I feel once the season starts he should see his list of offers continue to grow.
He is a returning starter and leader for Hinsdale South coming off a junior season that saw him put up averages of 17.3pts & 8.2reb per game and winning his conference along with being an All-Conference and All -Area selection. If he can continue his strong play through the remainder of the summer and into his senior season I see no reason why his stock shouldn’t rise and have multiple offers coming his way soon. This is a do it all hybrid that of player that has shown the ability with an ever improving skill set that he can score on all three levels and also be unselfish and find the open teammate.
