Hopkins finds a fit with Boise State
Boise State was the first offer for Trey Hopkins a little over a year ago in Indianapolis and now they will be the school Hopkins heads to in the fall of 2019. Hopkins committed to Boise State this weekend after analyzing his options. It came down to Boise was the best fit for Hopkins.
“Boise just had everything I wanted in a school and a basketball program,” said Hopkins. “What really sold me was how much they wanted me to be a Bronco and there plans for me freshman year, which is to be a starter and an impact player for the program.”
Phil Beckner has been the main recruiter of Hopkins at Boise State. The Oklahoma connection to Boise State is growing stronger by the year. Beckner landed Marcus Dickinson out of Norman North in the 2016 Class. Dickinson had a strong first year with Boise State finding minutes at the Point Guard spot off the bench. It has to help Boise State with Oklahoma players seeing Dickinson’s success.
Boise State landed a scorer in Hopkins from all three levels. The Boise State fans that leap for joy for slam dunks will love Hopkins athleticism from the Wing. When asked about how firm his decision was to go to Boise State, Hopkins doubled down with the Broncos.
“It’s a pretty done deal really,” said Hopkins. “I trust the staff to much to not stand by my decision.”
The decision takes a lot off of Hopkins shoulders bringing relief. This summer Hopkins will be playing with Team Boost out of Dallas. He will be a key piece on the Wing for them on the Adidas Gold Gauntlet. It will be interesting to see if any schools jump on Hopkins if he has a strong July.
Boise State is also recruiting 2018 Booker T. Washington Forward Jaycson Bereal. They offered Bereal after an unofficial visit this last weekend.
