As the breakdowns for the 2018 player rankings continue, take a look at the breakdown from the Beltway area guards part one here.
Below, we continue our breakdown of the Beltway area guards that were included in the rankings:
AMIR HARRIS | 6’4 G | ST. MARIA GORETTI/NEW WORLD | #14 OVERALL
Harris is another player who has steadily climbed since our last rankings, and still has plenty of room to grow. At 6’4, Harris is able to play the point or the two. He is very long, and defends well both on the perimeter and at the rim. Harris is a three level scorer, and a reliable playmaker.
MYLES DREAD | 6’4 G | GONZAGA/TEAM TAKEOVER | #15 OVERALL
Intangibles are the word that comes to mind when evaluating Dread. The versatile 6’4 wing continues to improve, and is always finding ways to contribute on both ends of the floor. Dread is a vocal presence on the floor, and an emotional leader for his team. He is very efficient, and unselfish offensively.
JARED BYNUM | 5’9 G | GEORGETOWN PREP/DC BLUE DEVILS | #17 OVERALL
Bynum has all the qualities of a good point guard. He controls pace, and can consistently create for others. He can finish well at the rim in traffic. He defends at a high level. He leads both by example, and with his actions. The added dimension that Bynum brings, aside from his intelligence and understanding of the game, is his ability to score from all over the floor.
TRE WOOD | 6’2 G | ST. JOHN’S/TEAM TAKEOVER | #18 OVERALL
Wood is perhaps the quickest guard in the area with the ball, and can get to almost any spot on the floor at will. He is traditional a pass first point guard, and a very crafty finisher. Wood plays with a strong motor, and defends with tenacity.
CHRISTIAN JONES | 6’3 G | ANNAPOLIS/TEAM BBC | #26 OVERALL
Jones is a big guard with good athleticism to go along with a nice skill set. He plays with a tireless motor, and can effectively defend both guard positions. Jones is active and alert on the ball defensively. He is able to consistently create space for his shot, but also looks to get others involved.
