Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament Champions
The Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament took place this past weekend in Oklahoma City. Five champions were crowed from 17U down to 13U. Get a look at what programs took home the tournament championship on Sunday.
17U: Oklahoma Power Elite
Oklahoma Power Elite had quite the road to the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament 17U title. They pulled off an upset of Oklahoma Run PWP 17U Black in the quarterfinals, pulled out a victory in the semifinals against Team Cougars a feisty squad and then matched up with OnPoint Hoops in the Championship. Oklahoma Power Elite dispatched OnPoint Hoops in what was a tightly contested game for the majority of the contest. Adokiye Iyaye had a great game for OnPoint, but late in the second half Oklahoma Power Elite pulled away. Key players in the Oklahoma Power Elite’s run to the title were Stephon Hall and Kamden Gipson at the Point Guard spot, Wings Jalen Crutchfield and Mason Webb who shot the ball very well and Blake Owens in the paint.
16U: Oklahoma Power Elite
Oklahoma Power Elite pulled off one of the best comebacks of the entire tournament in the 16U Championship game against a very talented Oklahoma Impact team. Garrett Rouse and Trey Green put on a show for Oklahoma Impact, but a late furious comeback by Oklahoma Power Elite landed them the trophy in the last seconds of regulation. Shemar Smith was big time all weekend long in helping Oklahoma Power Elite to the championship trophy. Smith was great in the paint rebounding the ball at a high level and scoring the rock when he got touches. Nate Goodlow shined this weekend scoring the ball well from all three phases of the game. He is best at slashing to the basket, but also shot the ball respectfully this weekend. Oklahoma Power Elite also overcame an overtime contest against the Tulsa Hawks. It was an impressive showing for the Oklahoma Power program pulling off the 17U and 16U titles.
15U: Oklahoma Run PWP 15U Black
Oklahoma Run PWP Black was super impressive all weekend long showing off their talented bunch. Trey Phipps led the way for them in their run to the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Championship with his fantastic shooing from three-point range. Brock Davis had a good weekend in the paint for Oklahoma Run PWP 15U Black. BTR faced them in the championship game after a great run by BTR. Oklahoma Run PWP 15U Black used their stamina to outlast BTR in quite the showing in the title tilt. They had just one game that was within ten points during bracket play.
14U: Next Level Show
The 14U bracket featured some great competition with a fun title game between Next Level Show and Norman Elite. Next Level Show got the best of Norman Elite with a big halftime lead. Norman Elite stormed back, but Next Level Elite was too much in the end. Next Level also nabbed victories over PWP and DC Elite in their route to the tournament championship. Darius Moore led the way for Next Level scoring the ball extremely well. He is a talented Wing with good size on him and some swagger to his game.
13U: Team USA Oklahoma
Team USA Oklahoma landed the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament title after wins over Norman Elite, Kings of Courts, Oklahoma Power Select and Tulsa Infinity. Team USA Oklahoma played like a well oiled machine throughout the weekend. They have put together an impressive showing since forming the team. Over the past three years Team USA Oklahoma has proven to be a top notch Oklahoma 13U program.
