Oklahoma Power advances to the Championship Bracket
The Oklahoma Power defeated OK Hustle 68-45 to advance to the Championship bracket on Sunday.
The Power started out slow as they trailed a majority of the first half. They struggled to coral rebounds against a feisty undersized Hustle squad.
With a few changes the Power went on a huge run to take the lead led by 2018 guard Kamden Gibson. Gibson is a great facilitator and he changes the pace of the game as soon as he touches the floor.
Jalen Crutchfield was a beneficiary of the increased tempo as he was able to get open threes and finish at the rim. The 2018 guard scored the buzzer-beating layup to end the first half as well which opened things up for the Power.
As the pace of the game picked up, it was the Power who were sprinting up and down the floor and getting easy baskets. 2018 forward Blake Owens brought excellent energy as well.
OK Hustle were outmatched but they played tough in the second which led to some frustrating moments for the Power.
2018 guard Mason Webb’s jumper wasn’t falling but he got loose and began slashing to the rim. He had the play of the game on a fast break with a emphatic two-hand dunk.
This was not the Power’s greatest performance but they will be a team to be reckoned with on Sunday. With a roster full of college prospects, the Oklahoma Power have a good shot as any team to win the 2017 Prep Hoops State Tournament.
