New Orleans Basketball Club
Tylor Harris — Slidell 2019 5’10 PG
Harris may have been the most impressive player I saw on the final day of the Grassroots HoopFest tournament. I had seen him with his high school team in a district game in January and what I saw in the tournament really reaffirmed what I saw back then.
Harris had 21 points including the game-winner on his home floor against Hammond (video) and he was dropping 3-pointers in defenders’ faces on a regular basis in the Grassroots tournament.
He can create space with his handle to get his shot off the dribble in deep 3-point or midrange territory and has a floater around the rim — though he could get more consistent with it. Harris doesn’t have great size but he’s a player that can score in bunches when he gets hot.
Ben Seiden — St. Paul’s 2019 6’5 F
Like Harris, Seiden was easily one of the tournament’s more impressive players. He had a great showing in the semifinal and championship games and was remarkably consistent finishing around the rim in traffic. He also showed off a couple of sweet post moves with a nice jumper and he’s a high level competitor that also made a few plays as a passer.
Kolby Warren — Slidell 2019 6’3 G/W
Warren is yet another Slidell prospect who got to showcase more of his skillset in a more free-flowing AAU setting. He was lights out from long range in the 16U championship against NOLA 23 and flashed some impressive skills as a ball handler as well.
Tyrease Terrell — Northshore 2019 6’3 G
Terrell is a knock-down shooter and he was at it again in the Grassroots HoopFest tournament. His release isn’t overly quick but the lefty has good form and he can really fill it up from long range when he gets going.
Moses Ngodock — Northshore 2019 6’7 C/F & Frank Robinson — Ellender 2019 6’6 F
Ngodock and Robinson were the men in the middle for New Orleans Basketball Club and both are very likely to be college prospects. Ngodock is a bit more defensive minded but both are skilled players that are capable shooters and their progress will be interesting to keep an eye on.
New Orleans Elite
Jason Jospeh — Landry-Walker 2019 5’9 G
New Orleans Elite lost to New Orleans Basketball Club in the semifinals but Joseph had a strong outing nonetheless. He worked hard on both ends of the floor and showed the ability to score both in the paint and beyond the 3-point line.
Tyrus Crawford — Landry-Walker 2019 6’5 F
Crawford manned the middle for New Orleans Elite and played the role of rim protector and rebounder very well. He’s got long arms, good anticipation and showed a desire to get to his hands on as many rejections as he could.
