Former Wayne County Standout Transfers to Tusculum College (TN)
Recently, Tusculum College announced the addition of former Chattanooga guard and Wayne County standout Peyton Woods to it’s men’s basketball team. Woods has two years of eligibility remaining and will be able to play immediately. (Tusculum competes at the NCAA Division II level).
Woods competed in 31 games during his time at Chattanooga, scoring over 100 points. This past season he had a career high 12 points against The Citadel, knocking down four 3’s in the contest. The most minutes he played came against North Carolina, clocking in with 26 minutes played. During the 2015-2016 season, Woods shot over 45% from beyond the arc.
While at Wayne County High School, Woods lit up the scroeboard scoring over 2,400 points during his prep career, which is 2nd on Wayne County’s all-time list. He averaged 22 points per game as a senior and also ranks 4th on Kentucky’s all-time made 3’s list. He originally chose Chattanooga over Charlotte and USC Upstate.
Tusculum just hired new head men’s basketball coach Nick Pasqua. Pasqua recruited Woods while he was an assistant coach at King University (also NCAA Division II). Per Tusculum College’s release, Pasqua stated that “I am extremely excited to have Peyton be my first student-athlete commitment at Tusculum, I recruited Peyton very hard two years ago before he signed at Chattanooga and I know exactly what kind of player we are getting. He will add an immediate scoring threat to our team next year, and I am excited to have him become a Pioneer.”
