Former Apollo, 22 Feet Academy Product Receives Release from Mississippi State
Now former Mississippi State guard Eli Wright has asked for and received his release from the Bulldogs men’s basketball team. The freshman from Owensboro, KY averaged 13.1 minutes per game last season in maroon and white, tallying 3.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, while shooting 52.9% from the field. He started one game.
Wright was a four star recruit according to numerous recruiting and scouting networks as a senior at 22 Feet Academy (SC). He was ranked as high as 125 by Rivals.com (Class of 2016).
At 22 Feet Academy, Wright averaged 23.6 points per game. He poured in 20 points in a win against national powerhouse Oak Hill Academy. As a junior at Apollo High School in Kentucky, Wright averaged 20.6 points and 7 rebounds per game, while also shooting over 50% from the field.
Wherever Wright ends up playing at next he will carry three years eligibility with him, and experience playing in one of the “Power 5” conferences. His best performance while at Mississippi State was in his one start against Northwestern State. Playing 32 minutes, Wright scored a career high 11 points and grabbed a season best 7 rebounds.
