Basketball Interview with…Neema Namdar (D1 Transfer)
Neema Namdar had a very good career at Alta High School that lead to a walk-on spot at Southern Utah University. After one season, he has decided to transfer to USU-CEU for more playing time. Here is our interview.
What are some strengths you have in your game that make you the player that you are?
“Shooting, my ability to shoot the ball helps me spread the floor and to help make gaps to help find my teammates for easy shots.”
What are some of your weaknesses that you would like to work on?
“I would say finishing with contact at the basket but that has been my main focus this off season.”
What was your reason for leaving SUU and then signing at USUE?
“I loved SUU, I needed to go somewhere where I could play right away and at SUU I would be playing behind three seniors that were experienced.”
How did you grow as a player and person at SUU?
“SUU pushed me to become more physical and intense on the court and off the court it helped me learn to take care of myself and to make the right decisions.”
Were you surprised at the level of competition at the D1 level?
“I wouldn’t say that I was surprised, I was ready going into the program and I knew it was going to challenge me each and everyday and it did, I am grateful for that because it made me grow in a positive way.”
What advice do you have for high school players on picking the right college to sign with?
“My biggest advice for younger players would be to go where you think is the right place, there will be a lot of people telling you where to go and at the end of the day go where you feel is right and challenge yourselves, it’s okay to be uncomfortable that’s how you get better.”
Who is your favorite NBA player and why?
“Damian Lilliard, because he is one of the hardest working dudes on the floor, he plays with a chip on his shoulder and continues to prove everyone wrong and that is his fuel.”
What are you interested in majoring in during college?
“I am interested in business and communication I love both subjects and want to continue to learn more about both.”
What is your favorite off the court activity and why?
“My favorite off court activity would have to be hanging out with my friends and listening to music I’m a huge rap and r&b fan.”
