For his efforts Donald was awarded Honorable Mention All Met by the Washington Post and he earned 1st Team All DCIAA honors for the second year in a row. Donald plans to make his decision on where to attend college this spring and he currently holds one offer from St. Augustine.
We recently caught up with Donald who says,” I play with great hustle, aggressiveness and provide leadership for my teammates. I guarded 1 thru 5 this past season at Roosevelt.”
We watched Donald play several times this season and we were impressed by his focus, determination and his ability to play multiple positions. In a game versus Coolidge HS Donald scored 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.
Donald explains his style of play, “Offensively I excel in transition and I love to slash to score or kick-out. I think I play very good defense and I like to apply ball pressure. ”
Donald has a very good 3 point shot but says, ” I will be working on shooting off the dribble and my ball handling this spring and summer. I will play AAU basketball for ST 8 and work out my personal trainer as well as playing pick up games. Almost year round I work out out with weights and I do conditioning drills which include plyometrics. My strength and conditioning paid dividends this year allowing me to play almost the entire game without any fatigue and helped to improve my power game.”
When asked what type of player a College Coach would be getting, Donald replied, “A total team player who will do whatever it takes to get a W with a great attitude.”
