Prep Hoops Route 66 Kickoff: OKC Wolfpack Elite have an impressive showing this weekend
The OKC Wolfpack Elite went 2-1 this weekend with some impressive performances by some talented unsigned seniors.
With AAU programs like Kansas Pray N Play and TJ Ford. The OKC Wolfpack put together a great run these past two days.
Led by 2017 guard Tre Edwards and others, the Wolfpack hit the ground running on Saturday as they defeated C.H.A.M.P.S basketball 76-44. Edwards ran the show and played excellent on ball defense. He made sure the Wolfpack were running efficiently on both ends of the floor.
They then went on to defeat an impressive Houston Superstars team 63-56 led by 2017 forward Joe Cortesio. At 6’8, Cortesio gave the Superstars tough matchup as he can shoot the three and slash to the basket. He also helped on defense with some impressive blocks in the lane.
The Wolfpack were locked in an intense game with TJ Ford-Austin in which they led at halftime 40-27.
2017 guard Jace Killman is a lethal shooter and he showed his ability with an impressive first half. Killman also showed some ability to run the point and he was able to slash to the basket with some impressive finishes over TJ Ford-Austin’s size.
2017 forward Darrion Hoyle rose his stock with impressive performances all weekend. Hoyle shined in the areas no ones else wants to do. Hoyle caused havoc on the glass which created more offensive opportunities for the Wolfpack.
Hoyle is also the Wolfpack’s best post defender and that was apparent as he consistently cut off drives to the basket and never let larger opposing big men seal him under the basket.
Unfortunately, the Wolfpack ran out of gas late in the second half and loss to TJ-Austin 62-56. They were one win away from making it to the Elite Eight of the championship bracket.
This weekend’s performance by the OKC Wolfpack Elite showed that you can never underestimate a team with experience, grit, and unselfishness.
