Grassroots preview: Tulsa Dream Team
Out of North Tulsa, Tulsa Dream Team grassroots program provides kids with an opportunity to play basketball and also receive the word of Christ. They compete in several events through the spring and summer to get their players exposure. They have several goals for this year.
“The Tulsa Dream Team is a basketball program and relationship centered ministry, based on the principles of the word of God,” said Marcus Colbert. “Our staff and coaches reflect the love of God in everything we do.”
The Tulsa Dream Team program has three teams 7/8th, 9/10th and 11/12th grade boys. They have several goals for this summer for Tulsa Dream Team.
“Our expectations for the summer go as follows,” said Coach Colbert. “Achieve a winning record, get players exposure and experience. Provide D1 training, help with NCAA eligibility and ACT scores. To encourage high school academics, provide mentorship, family and home life assistance. We want to instill hard work and character in to these young men so that they can truly achieve the success they are after.”
The passion the players play with in the program is what makes coaching them so special to Coach Colbert.
“I enjoy the passion these players display despite some of the obstacles they face daily in their lives,” said Coach Colbert. “We are family and constantly grow and learn from each other. There’s never a dull moment with these young men and I’m blessed to able to help lead them as they are in pursuit of their dreams.”
Some players to watch in the Tulsa Dream Team organization include.
Kamron Brice 2018 6’5 Guard
He has great length and leaping ability with excellent three point shooting. He is a high energy player who contributes in every aspect of the game. Brice attends Tulsa McLain.
Rayquan Elliott 2018 6’3 Guard
He is a smart player with great ball handling skills and excellent shooting range from deep. He is a pure scorer who isn’t afraid to take a game over! Elliot has started to develop at Nathan Hale.
Trevon Hill 2018 6″5 Wing
Hill is an aggressive inside slasher. He possess great passing skills with a nice mid-range jumper. He is also out of Nathan Hale.
Isaiah Hill 2017 6’4 Guard
Hill is a high energy player with great motor. He contributes greatly on both sides of the court. He is an aggressive offensive scorer inside and out. Hill will be looking for some exposure to sign late as a senior.
Israel Mansker 2017 6’4 Forward
Mansker is above the rim player with a great frame. He is an excellent rim protector and rebounder. Mansker is a strong slasher.
