Grassroots preview: Team Cougars Elite 17U
The Spencer Cougars are looking to make a statement this summer with an impressive 17U squad. They have several small college prospects on the roster this spring. So far Team Cougars Elite is off to an impressive start.
“We want to continue to work hard and play together as a team,” said Darnell Williams, Team Cougars Elite head coach. “We are deep with 11 boys that feel like they all should be starting. We want to get them noticed.”
Damion Thorton 2018 Wing
If you saw Edmond North play last year, Damion Thorton was the surprise on the roster. He came off the bench and provided Edmond North with good solid minutes. He is very versatile and can play on the Wing or in the post at the Forward spot.
Tyus Jeffries 2018 Forward
Jeffries is an undersized Forward that is strong and plays bigger than his height. He is very competitive on the court, and knows how to score in the paint.
Jalen Williams 2018 Point Guard
Williams is a pure point guard that is fast with outstanding ball handling, good shooter, and competes on both ends of the court.
Latarryus Smith 2018 Point Guard
Smith is an excellent shooter. He projects to the highest level of college of Team Cougars Elite. He can shoot the three ball or mid-range. Smith is coming off a great season at Star Spencer. He projects to the Division II level.
This spring Team Cougars Elite will be in attendance at the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament, EYB Classic in Texas, and the Great American Shoot Out tournaments in Dallas, Texas and Wichita, Kansas.
