Grassroots preview: Oklahoma Wolfpack 16U
The Oklahoma Wolfpack have an impressive 16U squad that is making some noise already across the grassroots circuit. Last weekend they made the elite 8 at the Made Hoops event in Arkansas. The Oklahoma Wolfpack has high goals for this summer.
“The goal for this team this summer is to push them outside of their comfort zone,” said Anthony Baker, Oklahoma Wolfpack Director. “This group is together for their second year and plays extremely well together. What makes them special is their balance. This team has guards with high basketball IQ. Bigs with skill and quickness. Many kids on this team should begin to see interest during the live period.”
Antonio Gordon 2019 Forward
He is a skilled 6’8” Power Forward that can stretch the floor with his mid-range shooting. Gordon is starting to develop into a nice player.
Eli Hollis 2019 Forward
Hollis is beginning to play like a true center on both offense and defense. He is an up and coming big man with some potential.
Tre Waggnor 2019 Guard
Waggnor is an extremely gifted guard with great ball handling, vision and shooting. He is best known for his jumper.
Payton Gordon 2019 Guard
Gordon is a deep threat on the perimeter and polished enough to score in the paint around big men. He brings toughness.
BJ Harris 2019 Guard
Harris has really improved over the last season. He has an extremely quick first step and is a good shooter. Those two skills make him difficult to guard.
“What makes this group special is they are unselfish,” said Coach Baker. “Each game we could have a different mvp. They enjoy playing together and hanging out off the court. This group reminds me of the group from 2016. They love playing basketball together.”
The Oklahoma Wolfpack 16U squad will travel to Wichita for the GASO Midwest April 21-23 for the first live period. For the second live period the Oklahoma Wolfpack will take their talents to Dallas for the GASO April 28-30.
