Grassroots preview: Oklahoma Power 16U
The Oklahoma Power are competing on the Adidas Silver Gauntlet this spring and summer. The year will start for the Oklahoma Power 16U squad in Dallas this weekend at the opening Adidas event. The program is eager to get their first taste of the Adidas Circuit and ready to show off their Oklahoma talent.
“Team Goals are to identify and improve on the “details” that will help our overall team and individual play,” said Jason Jack Oklahoma Power 16U head coach. “Which in return will help us achieve our ultimate goal in winning tournaments.”
There are several players to keep a close eye on.
Da’Lin Wiggins 2019 Wing
He is a great around the rim finisher. Wiggins is an under rated passer with a high basketball IQ. Coaches will love that he is an ultimate team player. Wiggins is a big physical tough rebounder.
Shemar Smith 2019 Wing
Pound for pound best athlete on the team at 6’5. He has a high motor that seems to never stop on either end of the floor. Smith is a physical rebounder who possesses the ability to shoot the 15 footer. With the Power having limited size he is extremely active post defender. Smith will be a Wing at the next level. It will be fun to watch him develop on this team.
Kellen Hines 2019 Point Guard
Go get a bucket kind of guy at the Point Guard spot. He can score at will. Hines is a great three-point shooter with a strong physical presence. He possesses great ball handling skills and finishes well at the rim from the Point Guard position.
Blake Nowell 2019 Forward
Powell is a high IQ player with extremely physical and mentally toughness. He has a lot of intangibles, finishes well at the rim. He is a team player.
“These guys make me want to be a better coach because of how they approach the game,” said Coach Jack. “They want to learn, they ask questions, and no external motivation is needed for them to play hard. They are treating the game of basketball the right way.”
