Grassroots preview: Oklahoma Hustle
The Oklahoma Hustle had a strong start to the season making a deep run in the Prep Hoops Route 66 Kick Off in Oklahoma City. The squad ended up falling to Greenwood Elite late in bracket play. The Oklahoma Hustle have several players who will play at the small college level. They will be traveling the spring and summer throughout the region competing in several big tournaments. Paul Harvey is the director and coach of the Oklahoma Hustle.
“Our team goals this summer are to improve every game,” said Coach Harvey. “Get every kid on the team some college exposure. To become well rounded student athletes.”
Gabe Simpson 6’4 2018 Wing
Simpson plays the stretch 4 for Oklahoma Hustle. In the high school season Jay counts on Simpson to score the basketball heavily. He shoots a high percentage from outside, but also has a knock down midrange game
Ryan Cooper 6’2 2018 Guard
Cooper is Oklahoma Hustle’s best defender. He is the 2 time defense player of the year in his conference in high school where he plays at Wyandotte. Cooper is relied upon to play excellent defense non-stop.
Kyndall Keys 6’5 2018 Post
Keys is a do it all post who thrives on doing the dirty work. He is a relentless rebounder. Keys attends Chouteau high school where he is counted upon to be a key player for them.
Marquan Sorrells 6’3 2018 Guard
Sorrells often known by many as “Quan” is the team leader on the floor. He can play multiple spots and has a high basketball IQ. The knowledge of the game allows him to be really effective in several ways for Oklahoma Hustle. He plays his high school basketball in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Bobby Cade 6’1 2018 Guard
Cade is neck and neck with Ryan as the teams best defender. Cade also excels at getting to the rim. He brings it game in and game out. He is quick with his feet, which allows him to be successful.
“Thing I enjoy most about this group is the chemistry the team already has,” said Coach Harvey. “The kids just love the game of basketball and they want to come together to ultimately achieve their goals.”
