Grassroots preview: Bulldogs 16U
The Bulldogs 16U squad out of Oklahoma is a talented group from the east side of the state. They work to improve each time out on the floor. One thing that immediately sticks out about this team is the hustle and heart they play with each game.
“Our goals are to get better as players,” said Dean Lester. “To play some of the best teams to see where we need to improve the most so that next summer in their the summer heading into their senior years we can compete at a high level in front of college coaches.”
Devion Nelson 2019 Point Guard
He handles the ball well at the Point Guard spot getting the team in great spots for success. Nelson is also great at creating with the ball for offense.
Cody Evans 2019 Forward
Evans averages double digit scoring for the Bulldogs. He is a great at rebounding with his battle for every ball attitude. Evans is a great hustle guy.
Jayden Biggs 2019 Forward
Biggs is a huge rebounder and scorer down low for the Bulldogs. Especially for his size, as he is undersized in the post. Great team player with excellent attitude and effort.
Casen Lester 2019 Guard
Lester leads the way for the Bulldogs in scoring averaging 15 points per game. He is working to improve his three-point shot. Areas he has always excelled are the mid range jumper and getting to the free throw line. Hustler, is a great way to describe the effort of Lester on the floor.
Lewis Camacho 2019 Guard
Lewis is a great option for the Bulldogs from three-point land. His outside shooting sets him apart with his smooth shot. He is scrappy, always hustling on the floor. Great kid with a great attitude and body language on the court.
“I thoroughly enjoy every kid on my team,” said Coach Lester. “This is their first year together and they are getting better every week. My goal is to teach them to trust one another as teammates and as individuals. And hopefully I’m getting better as a coach and a person. I’ve always told the kids give me your best and if it’s not good enough to win you can’t do better than your best.”
The Bulldogs will be in action in several spring tournaments, one of which is the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament May 19-21 in Oklahoma City.
