Grassroots preview: BTR 16U
The BTR (Below the Rim) 16U squad is out to make a statement this year. They have one of the top players in the Oklahoma 2019 class leading the way in Dyson Plumley. BTR Director Jesse Brown has his squad competing in the Houston Classic April 21-23 in the first live period and in the GASO in Dallas April 28-3o.
The goals for BTR are simple from Coach Brown.
“For our program to play at a high level at all times,” said Brown. “For players to get the looks they deserve.”
A few players to watch on the BTR 16U squad are listed below.
Tre Carolina 2020 Point Guard
He is a 5’9 physical Point Guard with a lot of intangibles. He can get anywhere on the floor with his speed and vision. Carolina is a key playmaker for the BTR squad.
Shelby Sampleton 2020 Wing
Sampleton is a 6’2 lights out shooter from the Wing who provides the BTR offense with the ability to stretch the defense. He has really improved his drive game, which is opening up the offense even more for him.
Mark Berry 2020 Forward
At 6’6 in the Forward spot Berry is very athletic. He was first found when he had a breakout performance at the Prep Hoops Top 250 EXPO this past fall. He has a good finish around the rim. One part of his game that sets him apart is his shot blocking skills.
Dyson Plumley 2020 Wing
6’3 Guard who is very athletic with some great upside for BTR. He is their highest ranked player by Prep Hoops Oklahoma with his skills to score in all three phases of the game. Plumley finishes well at the rim. He is one to keep a watch on.
The 16U for BTR is coached by Nate Jones.
