Top Performers – 8th Region Tournament Semifinals
Fans who attended the 8th Region Tournament Semifinals at Henry County High School saw tightly contested battles in both games, as Collins defeated Gallatin County 48-44 and Anderson County defeated South Oldham 65-56.
Collins and Anderson County will square off tonight for the third time this season, with the winner punching a bid to the Kentucky Sweet Sixteen. Both teams won on their home courts earlier in the season, putting both teams at 1-1 against each other.
8th Region Tournament Semifinal Top Performers
- Dominique Turner, Collins (2017) – Averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds on the season, Turner grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 7 points in Collins’ win against Gallatin County.
- Charles Cochran, Collins (2017) – Both Turner and Cochran are going to make really good small college basketball prospects. Cochran, averaging 15.4 points and 7 rebounds per game, chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds in the semifinal win.
- Justin Rassman, Gallatin County (2018) – Rassman is averaging 11 points and 3 rebounds per game this season, and on this night, he was the only Wildcat who played consistent to his season averages. Rassman scored 12 points, knocking down three 3’s and shooting 50% from the field.
- Cobe Penny, Anderson County (2018) – Cobe Penny’s performance warranted his coaching staff calling him the “best kept secret in Kentucky high school basketball.” The 5’11 combo guard scored 18 points and grabbed 8 boards – at 5’11!
- Christian Gritton, Anderson County (2018) – Gritton is averaging a double-double on the season. This night was no different. The junior finished the game with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
