Top Performers – 12th Region Tournament Semifinals (3/6)
The 12th Region Tournament was narrowed down to it’s two finalists last night. Mercer County defeated Wayne County 77-64 and the Pulaski County Maroons disposed of the Boyle County Rebels 66-53.
Mercer and Pulaski squared off earlier in the season with the Titans winning in 99-89. Mercer will be riding a five game winning streak into the tournament final showdown. Pulaski has won their last four.
12 Region Tournament Semifinal Top Performers
- Trevon Faulkner, Mercer County (2018) – Faulkner followed up a 31 point performance in the quarterfinal with 25 last night. Faulkner will look to bring the same type of performance he did during Mercer’s last contest against Pulaski – in that game the junior scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
- Aubrey Weaver, Wayne County (2019) – Regardless of the loss and falling short of a regional final appearance, Weaver may have made a case to include his name on the long list of Kentucky’s 2019 ballers. Weaver scored 16 in the loss to Mercer County and 17 in the regional quarterfinal. The sophomore ended the season averaging right at 14 points per game.
- Jason Alexander, Boyle County (2018) – Another under-the-radar player making a name for himself this tournament. In Boyle’s loss to Pulaski, Alexander scored 18 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. Not only that, he shot 70% from the field.
- Steven Fitzgerald, Pulaski County (2018) – Fitzgerald is a bad man. There is a reason he’s ranked as one of, if not the top player in Kentucky’s 2018 class. The junior finished off the win against Boyle County with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.
