Prospect Spotlight: Jason Alexander (2018)
Jason Alexander (2018) will be reaping the benefits of stellar postseason play going into the summer. The Boyle County Rebel helped lead his team to the regional semifinal game before losing to eventual champion Pulaski County. Alexander’s total point average going into district tournament play? 13 points per game. In 4 games, starting in the 1st round of district tournament play and finishing in the regional semifinal game, Alexander total 73 points while averaging 18.3 points per game.
“My team goal going into the season was to win the region. I wish the result had been different, but we succeeded in making the regional semifinal game. My goal as a player was to be the best best leader I could be for our young, inexperienced team,” said Alexander. Boyle County had only two seniors on this year’s squad, with only one seeing significant playing time.
It was clear going into tournament play that Alexander had a desire to step his game up and play at a high level – mission accomplished. “I think playing the way I did, and at the level I did, helped me gain more confidence and experience – and I think it let people know that our team should be taken seriously as we go forward.”
Alexander is a pass first play-maker who can score when his team needs him, too. “I like to get most my points off the dribble and I love pick and roll situations,” said Alexander. When asked why he believes college coaches should give him a look going into the off-season, Alexander responded, “My ability to score in the paint, my ability to run an offense and control the tempo, leadership, craftiness and my effort on defensive side of the ball. I strive to be coachable, as well as a great teammate. I want to win and my focus and #1 priority is winning.”
Now that the 2017 season is over, Alexander has plans on improving his all-around game – adding that he would like to find many different ways of putting the ball in the basket.
This summer, you can find Jason running with the Louisville Lightning AAU program. “I’m very excited to play with the Louisville Lightning. I think it’ll be a great opportunity for me.”
