The Grind Session : 22Ft Academy Results


22Ft Academy took a business trip to finish out the season in Phoenix, AZ. 22FT Academy played in the Grind Session World Championships on the campus of Arizona Christian University.
22Ft Academy started the event with a tough hard fought win over previous national champion Victory Rock Prep out of Sarasota, FL. 22Ft Academy defeated Victory Rock Prep 46-44 in the opening round of the tourney. 22Ft Academy came in as 12th seeded team in the 14 team event.
David Sloan who arrived last month from Conrad Academy (FL) was named game MVP for 22Ft Academy with 11 points. Tajah Fraley added 10 points in the victory and Washington bound Mamoudou Diarra chipped in with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Aussie guard Noah Thomas added 6 points while Peanut Cunningham chipped in 4 points.
22Ft Academy advanced to the 2nd round to play Hillcrest Prep (AZ). Hillcrest Prep would defeat 22Ft Academy 68-66. 22Ft Academy would finish the season at (24-8) under Head Coach Richard Gatewood.
Sloan a point guard from Kentucky arrived last month from the Sunshine State. Sloan has received interest from Mercer, Bradley, Santa Clara, Morehead State, Portland and Eastern Kentucky according to Gatewood.
Fraley and Cunningham might need to entertain junior college according to Gatewood. Fraley played last season at Shiloh HS in Atlanta while Cunningham played high school basketball in Kentucky.
Sackey played last season at St Louis Christian with Diarra before arriving at 22Ft Academy. Sackey a point guard hails Winnipeg, Alberta Canada.
