How Did They Get Here: Tulsa Union
The Tulsa Union Redskins are undefeated at 26-0 and have a great opportunity ahead of them. This isn’t the first time Union has been in this position.
If schedule RPI was a thing in Oklahoma, the Redskins would also rank #1. They have faced the toughest schedule in the state. With wins over #3 Midwest City, #2 Edmond North, state qualifier Putnam City West, #7 Booker T. Washington and a talented Heritage Hall team.
Ironically, Union was projected to have a good season but no one saw an undefeated regular season coming. We should not be surprised because they have the best front court in the state in Ethan Chargois and Adrian Rodriguez. This dominant duo has been a problem that no one in the state can solve so far.
Chargois is a SMU commit and possibly has the highest potential of anyone in this 2017 class besides Trae Young. At 6’8, he has great touch around the basket but he also has wide range of moves on the perimeter. Chargois is a player that no team in the final 8 can guard one on one.
Rodriguez is a bruiser but with some sneaky athleticism. He has been dunking on folks since he was a sophomore. Chargois brings the finesse and Rodriguez brings the power. The UTSA commit is 6’7 and might be the best rebounder left remaining.
With lethal shooters like Mo Garcia, Union has everything you need to compliment talented bigs.
Union will face PCW again Thursday to get one step closer to the championship. The Redskins will walk into the Mabee Center with all the pressure of being the number #1 seed but its nothing that this program hasn’t felt before.
