How Did They Get Here: Midwest City
Midwest City is a state qualifier because of their elite offense led by the best player remaining in 6A.
The Midwest City Bombers have scored over 75 points in all but five games this season. MWC attacked the opponents defense from many different angles but everything began with 2018 guard Keyshawn Embery.
Embery is a 6’3 guard who has been destroying defenses all year. He began the season with 35 point performance against Putnam City. There is nothing Embery cannot do offensively.
Coaches from the Big Ten, Big 12, and more have flocked to MWC to see Embery put on a show.
The Bombers offense starts with Embery but some of his talented teammates showed their offensive skills as well. DJ Walter has exploded on the scene this year. Before he was just a talent, but now he has matured into consistent production. At 6’5, Walter has great size at the wing position and he hit big shots for MWC this season.
J.D. Ray is having a great finish to the season which led to some lop sided victories.
Jalen Redmond is a big time football prospect but he started as a physical basketball talent. Redmond has been a mismatch for every opponent this season. He is like a bowling ball once he gets a head a steam towards the rim.
The Bombers have faced a treacherous schedule this season. They loss by two points to an undefeated Tulsa Union squad. MWC played the top of the top in 5A and 6A.
Keyshawn Embery is the best player remaining in the 6A State Tournament. Jalen Redmond caused chaos in the paint every time he steps on the floor. DJ Walter is emerging as a star with every possession.
MWC is young but their dominant offense is the reason many have them favored to reach the state championship.
