Three players to watch
Koby Goodman 2017 Preston Forward
Goodman is as killed 6’5 Forward that brings it on both ends. He has a tough big body frame that gives the opposing team trouble. Goodman will need to have a great tournament for Preston to take home the Gold Ball.
Darien Roberts 2018 Wewoka Point Guard
Roberts is a quick Point Guard who broke out last season in the state tournament. Look for a show this year at the state tournament from Roberts. He is an athletic, fast guard that thrives in transition.
Brett Cunningham 2018 Dale Wing
Cunningham can get hot from three-point range and in hurry. Teams will have trouble stopping the 6’4 two guard on the Wing. Look for him to have a great tournament for Dale.
Teams
Wewoka
Back again, Wewoka looks to go for a three-peat behind Darien Roberts. The quickness of Wewoka is their strength and they must utilize it during the state tournament.
Christian Heritage
Heritage had a good season so far, but now they look to make some noise in the state tournament. They get a tough first round matchup with Wewoka.
Wright City
Wright City is having a great season at 28-2. Their schedule has been easier than some of the teams in the state tournament, but with that said don’t doubt them. They have what it takes to get it done. Wright City matches up with Preston on Thursday.
Preston
It has not been the season Preston hoped for record wise, yet once again they are back in the state tournament. Koby Goodman is tough to handle inside. Preston won’t be an easy out for anyone.
Talihina
Could Talihina be the favorite in the bottom side of the bracket in Class 2A? Some would say yes. They have finished the year off with a state tournament bid. Now it’s time to see Talihina under the bright lights.
Merritt
They have not played the toughest schedule out of the 8 teams at the state tournament. However, Merritt easily has the best record at 26-1 and enters as many peoples favorites to win the entire tournament. Lookout for Merritt!
Latta
Latta drew a tough first round matchup with Dale. They are a team who likes to slow things down and be very fundamental. Latta and Dale will be one of the better games we see on Thursday.
Dale
Dale is an exciting team to watch as they get up and down a little bit. The thing that favors Dale as they enter the state tournament is their versatility.
