Although, the chips have not all fell how he intended them too, Blaine is still working hard to give everything he can and leave it all out on the floor. He has had some really good performances lately stepping up and becoming a big time scorer for Southmoore. Blaine is getting looked at by NAIA Division II programs with his scoring talents as a 6’2 two Guard.
“The season right now isn’t going how we planned,” said Tye Blaine. “New coaching staff, all of us playing together for the first time.”
Blaine has seen his numbers boosted lately as he is starting to shoot the ball extremely well. He credits good looks and lots of time in the gym for the improvement on the floor.
“I feel like I’m playing good,” said Blaine. “I am getting better as the season is going on. I am averaging about 14 points per game the last 5 games. Throughout the season I am averaging 10 points per game. I hit a game winner against Durant.”
Blaine is a decent ball handler, but really excels as a catch and shoot two Guard. He would be a nice fit at the next level with a NAIA Division II program that is in need of a shooter.
“In a school I’m just looking for a coaching staff to have confidence in me and know that I can do what it takes to play at the next level,” said Blaine. “I need to of course get stronger and faster as well but I believe that’ll all come in before this next basketball season of my freshman year.”
Blaine’s work ethic is the reason he has been able to improve over his career at Southmoore. He has had some great summers with the Oklahoma Servants too. Blaine has high goals for the rest of his senior season.
“The goals for the rest of the season for me is to continue to get better everyday as a team, but also on myself,” said Blaine. “Staying after and getting shots up. I stay after almost everyday to do that and to just be a leader to a inexperienced team. Coming together as one and trying to go as far as possible and shock some people. It’ll be hard but I believe we can do it. I have confidence in my teammates.”
