This week we will focus on the top shot blockers in the state.
Who is the best rim protector in 6A?
Blake Owens 2018 Forward PC North
PCN is a key contender in 6A because of great guard play but also because of Owens size and defensive ability.
There is no one like Owens in their class. Owens runs like a deer and is a pogo stick around the rim. He has one the Panthers a few game already with big blocks in the 4th quarter to seal the game.
Who is the best rim protector in 5A?
Kalib Boone Tulsa Memorial
Tulsa Memorial consistently has long rangy athletes who can fly around the court and make plays. Boone is the latest talent out of Memorial and at the end of the day he may become one of the best.
The 2019 forward is 6’7 and has become the best shot blocker in his class already. Going against Memorial is tough as you have to navigate through a number of long athletic defenders and if you get that far you have to deal with Kalib Boone.
Who is the best shot blocker in 4A?
Brady Manek Harrah
Manek is a “baby Unicorn” as he can hit shots from three but also can protect the rim on defense. At 6’8, Manek destroys most shot attempts that come in his direction.
Shot blocking is a translatable skill at the next level so don’t feel bad if he blocks your shot in 4A because he will probably being doing the same to players in the BIG XII next year.
Who the best 3A-B at protecting the rim?
Camden Patterson Ringwood
Patterson is known for his offense and potential as a stretch four. The 2018 forward has great size and he clogs up the lane defensively and makes shots tough on his opponents.
Which shot blocker could affect his team’s chances at a title run?
Tony Elix Mount St. Mary
Elix is an athletic forward who can get off the floor quickly and has caused trouble for Rocket’s opponent’s this season.
Other than Manek, there is not a lot of players like Elix who can disrupt shots in the paint and throw off the entire offense on the perimeter.
That versatility could be a catalyst for a big postseason run by the Rockets.
