In the sophomore’s first game of the of the year he dropped 51 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. One college program that isn’t wasting time pursuing him is Northern Kentucky University. Allen was offered by the Norse this past weekend while on an unofficial visit, his first of what is sure to be many more to come in the future.
The Pendleton County wing, who has been running the point this season, is averaging 30 points per game and 13 rebounds going into the final regular season games of the year. “I’ve been able to really help my team out in a lot of different ways. My natural position is the off guard spot, but running the point guard position has allowed me to score points and get my teammates more involved,” said Allen.
Dontaie hopes to accomplish a number of different goals before he graduates and moves on to the next level. “The way I approach things are with small goals that will eventually turn into long term accomplishments. The thing I need to keep doing is working hard and proving people wrong. I would like to become a McDonald’s All-American. It would be a dream come true.”
When asked what he could bring to a high level college basketball program, Allen responded by saying “I can bring a will to win, the grit inside to bring it everyday, and the work ethic on and off the court. If a team wants a shooting guard who is 6’6 and tough, then I’m there guy.”
Thus far, Dontaie has visited Kentucky, Louisville, Tennesee, Xavier, and Cincinnati.
