Three players to watch
Caleb Nero 2017 Tulsa Memorial Combo Guard
Nero can play at the 1 or the 2. He has been the key player for Tulsa Memorial through his career. With the ball in the hands of Nero teams must respect his great ability to score off the bounce not to mention his vision to spot open teammates. Nero is starting to receive lots of Division I looks.
Jeffery Oxford 2017 Claremore Shooting Guard
Want to know the player that has received little love but deserves some attention? Meet Jeffery Oxford at Claremore. He is have a great senior season scoring the basketball really well. He isn’t flashy, but gets the job done with his competitive battle at all times on the floor.
Mason Webb 2017 Bishop McGuinness Shooting Guar
Webb continues to fly under the radar, but is easily one of the best shooters in the Oklahoma 2017 Class. The ability to shoot is what Webb is most known for but is not the only thing he can do on the floor. Webb plays tough defense and rebounds the ball well. McGuinness will need two great performances from Webb to get to state.
Predictions
Games at Jenks
Tulsa Memorial vs Del City
The Eagles are outmatched heavily in this one against Tulsa Memorial. However, don’t just assume Del City will lose this one, expect them to give some fight. Tulsa Memorial must come out and set the tone early with Caleb Nero and Kobe Rose leading the way. I have Tulsa Memorial advancing in this championship bracket game behind Nero and Rose.
Consolation: Nathan Hale vs Bishop McGuinness
Nathan Hale pulled off a huge upset against East Central shocking the state in the opening round. Can they continue their success against Bishop McGuinness? Not so fast, McGuinness gets the victory with Mason Webb leading the way. Webb is a sharp shooter that will be tough for Hale to hold.
Consolation Championship: Bishop McGuinness vs Del City
This will be a fun game to watch! Del City has some very under the radar guards led by Issac Beverly who was fantastic during Regional play. McGuinness will key on Webb to bring them a win. Del City has already won this matchup earlier in the year. Same result this times the Eagles get to state.
Games at Will Rogers
Collinsville vs Claremore
Collinsville pulled off a first round upset in the East Central Regional, then they got a gift with Nathan Hale beating East Central. Claremore was expected to be here at this point. Jeffery Oxford and company at Clarmore have had a tremendous season. Look for Claremore to win this won with ease.
Consolation: Northwest Classen vs Pryor
A young talented Northwest Classen squad takes on Pryor in a win or go home contest on Friday. This will be a close and fun one to watch. Prep Hoops has Northwest Classen finding a way to get it done with the play of Mo Wilson, Dalin Wiggins and Izzy Braxton.
Consolation Championship: Northwest Classen vs Collinsville
It shapes up extremely well for Northwest Classen when you look at this matchup. The athleticism and length of Northwest Classen will give Collinsville fits. Northwest Classen gets it done.
