We won’t be able to answer all of your questions in this article, but can address many of the changes in the 2019 Oklahoma Prospect Rankings.
Why did Kobe Burgess move up to the top spot?
When we rank players we are ranking them based off their potential at the next level. Obviously, production at the high school level is also a major factor. Burgess has dominated at Ada this year, but what pushed him to the top spot is the motor he plays with non-stop. Burgess plays just as hard on defense as he does on offense, maybe even harder on defense. The energy Burgess brings to the floor every night separate him from the pack. The top five in the 2019 Oklahoma class is talented, but no one has a motor like Burgess. He is very talented with his scoring skills from all three phases of the game, lock down defense and possess many intangibles. Burgess is very talented most certainly, but his effort on both ends of the floor non-stop is what makes him the best player in the Oklahoma 2019 class.
Who improved the most?
This one could go to several different players as many stepped up their game over the past year. Jett Sternberger out of Kingfisher gets the most improved title for the updated 2019 Oklahoma Prospect Rankings. Sternberger is an undersized 5’10 Point Guard that simply, shoots the ball lights out. If Sternberger is across the half-court line lookout. He bumped all the way up to #12 with his performances this winter.

Who made the biggest jump?
Keylan Boone 6’5 Forward at Tulsa Memorial has shown signs of becoming a player that could really have High Major potential. He has always had potential with his size, but Boone is starting to put it all together. The jumper of Boone has improved immensely over the past year. Not only can Boone hit the outside shot, he is dominating the mid-range looks he is getting. Boone has a chance to be one of the best players with his size. It will be interesting to watch his development and see how he progresses.
Who is a sleeper in the 2019 Oklahoma Class?
Ben Smith is a player out of Edmond Santa Fe that has a great chance to turn into a top five talent in the Oklahoma 2019 class with his size and skill set. He has grown a little to a legit 6’6 possibly even taller. When Smith’s motor is going full speed he is a tough player to handle for any team. Lack of playing time has been tough on Smith at times, but he is starting to receive big minutes off the bench for Edmond Santa Fe. This could be the beginning of Smith starring to break out.
New Additions
Several players that did not make the initial top 20 Oklahoma 2019 Prospect Rankings list have entered into the top 20 of the updated rankings. Jaylen O’Conner at Edmond Santa Fe and Jake Royal at Deer Creek are two prospects to keep a close eye on. Both have impressed this winter showing their skills on full display at their respective high schools.
