All Conference: Greater Catholic League, South Division
Today Prep Hoops names its All-Conference team for the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed, South Division. This is a conference that has a lot of good, outstanding young talent with names that you will hear about for the next couple of years. Here are the young men that make-up Prep Hoops GCL Co-Ed South All-Conference Team:
All GCL-South Team:
Craig McGee- Roger Bacon
2016-17 Stats: 12.9 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 4.3 APG
One of the more underrated guards in Southwest Ohio. The senior finished the regular season second in assist and first in steals (3.0) in the conference. Really good at getting in the paint and always seems to make the correct decision. Would be a really good find for a Division III program.
Alec Pfreim- Roger Bacon
2016-17 Stats: 13 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 2.2 APG, 53.6% FG
Mr. Pfreim is one of the better underclassmen in the state of Ohio. The 18th ranked sophomore in Ohio led the Spartans in scoring and finished 2nd on the team and 6th in the conference in field goal percentage. I look for Alec to have a big tournament for Roger Bacon.
Javonta Lyons- Purcell Marian
2016-17 Stats: 13.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 2.1 APG
Maybe not a well-known outside of Cincinnati, Javonta Lyons will be a name to remember over the next couple of years. The 6’1 sophomore’s average of 13.1 points per game was good enough for 6th in the GCL South while also finishing 7th in the conference in rebounding. Lyons is part of a talented young nucleus at Purcell that will be very good over the next couple of years.
James Johnson- Roger Bacon
2016-17 Stats: 12.5 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 1.1 BPG
One of the more versatile players in the conference if not the city, Johnson finished in the top 10 in the conference in points per game, rebounds and blocks per game as well. The 6’6 senior also showed the ability to knock down shots from the outside connecting on 33.6% from three point range. Johnson is a top 150 senior in the state of Ohio.
Ryan Reidy- McNicholas
2016-17 Stats: 10.1 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 4.4 APG
The 6’0 junior point guard for the Rockets lead the conference in assist at 4.4 per game this season. Reidy also sported a solid assist to turnover ratio of 1.69 to 1 this season as well. With McNick having a lot of young players on their roster, look for Reidy’s numbers to vastly improve next season.
