#3 Midwest City, #5 Norman North and #12 Yukon will all be on the East side of the playoff bracket. If you went by the rankings alone it would appear Midwest City and Norman North would steal two of the four state tournament spots on the East side of the state.
Midwest City and Norman North will be favored in every game against the East side unless they face Union. The East side received a really tough draw with the OSSAA putting two of the top five teams in the state on the east side of the state. The scary thought for the East side is the fact that Yukon is talented enough to also make a deep run. The probability of all three teams that were sent East making the state tournament is very low, but with the high quality of teams there is a chance.
Yukon is led by their big man in the paint, Cameron Martin. He dominates on the boards and does a great job of finishing through contact. Martin could lead Yukon on an improbable run to the state tournament.
Midwest City and Norman North both have impressive players leading the way for them. Norman North has the best player in the state hands down, Trae Young
.
Midwest City has what many people consider to be the second best player in the state, Keyshawn Embery. The East side of the state will get a chance to see Young and Embery close up in the area tournament to get into the state championship.
The bottom line is the East side teams in Class 6A have been dealt a tough hand for the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how many teams make the state tournament from the East side of the state. The favorites on the East with the way the bracket is set up to make the state tournament at the moment would be Union, Midwest City, Norman North and Booker T. Washington.
