Gotcher is a prototype wing for at the next level. Standing at 6’5, he has a college ready frame plus a quick release which makes it impossible when closing out.
He catches the ball ready to shoot at all times. Gotcher is also a great rebounder who can get off the floor quickly and grab a board outside of his area.
There isn’t a lot of players like Gotcher who have the combination of size and shooting ability in Oklahoma. He is athletic and mobile enough to guard wings at the next level.
Gotcher is leading the Pirates in scoring and he feels like he is scoring the ball efficiently and helping on defense.
“I think I have been shooting pretty well and helping protect the basket with blocks,” Gotcher said. The 2017 forward is a great athlete who can create plays on the defensive end.
He is well aware that he needs to expand his offensive game outside of his jump shot. “I definitely need to improve my ball handling and getting to the hoop and making plays,” Gotcher said. “I also need to work on getting more rebounds a game.”
Gotcher has a 3.8 GPA and 24 ACT score and he has received interest from Bethel, NSU, NWOSU, Oklahoma Christian, and Panhandle. He also holds an offer from NOC Tonkawa.
He is aware of what he looking for at next level. “I’m looking for somewhere that is going to fit me best,” Gotcher said. “Something that feels like home and I don’t want to play far from here.”
Jaylen Gotcher is a rising star in the 2017 class and has all the tools to be a productive player at the DII level. If he had played on the summer circuit then he would already be a known commodity around the state.
