Earlier this month, NAIA Dordt became the second school to offer the sharpshooting 5-foot-11 senior.
He’s taken visits to both schools.
“I visited Grand View earlier this fall and I was very impressed. It’s a very nice school. I caught a practice and I really like what’s going on there. They like to get out and run and play fast-paced, and I like that. And I know their coach very well, and he’s a really coach, with a good coaching staff,” said Juhl.
“The other week when I visited Dordt and I caught a game, and it was just so loud. They really take it serious there, and they have loyal fans. I enjoyed both visits and they are two very good schools.”
Juhl is enjoying a fantastic senior season, averaging 21.3 points per game while shooting an astounding 67.3 percent from the floor and 50 percent from deep.
JuCos Kirkwood and Southwestern, along with Division II programs William Jewell and Wayne State are taking notice.
He discussed the possibility of playing at a JuCo, or Division II program.
“Obviously I want to play at the highest level possible, so that would be a goal for me. But if an NAIA is where I would have the best fit, then I’ll go there,” said Juhl.
“And I was thinking about the JuCo route; some coaches have talked to me and said it could be a good plan because that’s where some bigger schools really like to get their players – so that could be a good option.”
Sometime by April is when Juhl mentioned he’d like to make a final decision on where he’ll play his college ball.
“I’m thinking I’ll get a couple more offers,” he said. “Obviously I’m just going to play the rest of the season and just see what comes in.”
In the meantime, Juhl still has the rest of his senior season ahead of him. He has his Lions out to an 11-2 start. And has been one of the state’s most prolific shooters in doing so.
“I try and get to the rim as much as possible, and if I can’t get all the way there I’ll try and pull-up for an easy jumper. And other then that it’s just kick-out 3s, and I don’t shoot those as much as the shots at the rim or mid-range jumpers – so that’s probably why my percentage is so high,” said Juhl, who listed the goals for the rest of the season.
“We’ve had a pretty strong season and we’re going to pay Van Meter again so that will be a good game. Our first goal is to win conference and finish the season strong with the mind of getting back to State, that’s one of our main goals.”
