Greenville High School has recently emerged as a strong basketball team in the Dayton area. One of the players helping with this emergence is Aaron Rich (2017). Aaron is a power forward for the Green Wave, but watching him play you wouldn’t guess that. Aaron has incredible three point range and an equally strong mid-range shot.
He excels especially in pick-and-pop situations and he tells me his greatest strength is actually his abilities in the paint. “My greatest skill is probably being able to play with my back to the basket but also being able to spread the floor from the perimeter”. Whenever Aaron gets the ball in the paint, he is not afraid to play through traffic and stays physical even when he is getting fouled.
Not only can Aaron be an offensive threat, but defensively he is one of the top players in the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC). Aaron can front the post well and defend big men, but also has the quickness to guard smaller and more athletic forwards. Aaron also excels as a shot-blocker and is the top player in this category for Greenville.
Aaron credits his abilities to being part of a great team at Greenville. “I wouldn’t be the player I am without the 4 other guys on the floor with me. I have a great senior class that works hard and well together”. Greenville basketball has produced some great players recently including Clay Guillozet, who is currently playing basketball at West Liberty University, fellow senior Isaiah Gable, and Aaron himself. All 3 of these players have been part of very strong senior classes that have been working to put Greenville basketball back on the map.
Although Aaron has many strengths in his arsenal, he still wants to try and improve on some aspects of his game. “The one thing I need to work on the most is ball handling”. Improving on this would help mold Aaron into a small forward at the next level. With his strong work ethic and athletic abilities, there is no doubt Aaron will indeed strengthen these skills.
Currently, Aaron has received interest from Bluffton University and Wittenberg University but has no offers. One of these schools is sure to offer Aaron soon though. If not, a school will surely bring this defensive forward onto their team sooner than later.
