On Saturday, Tulsa Memorial was coming off a tough loss to East Central. The opponent Saturday for Tulsa Memorial was no slouch, Harrah features the second best player in the state, Brady Manek.
The chips were down for Tulsa Memorial early as they struggled falling behind to Harrah. This tough moment provided a young Tulsa Memorial Forward with the chance to provide a boost. Keylan Boone broke out on Saturday displaying his scoring talents from all three phases of the game. When Tulsa Memorial needed a basket, Boone provided one.
The 6’6 frame of Boone has always made him a prospect to have an eye on, but Saturday was the first time you could see it starting to really come together. Anyone who saw the game on Saturday, left thinking, that Boone kid has a chance to be special. It was because of the consistent jumper for Boone that took his game to another level.
Coach Bobby Allison at Tulsa Memorial has coached some really good players over the years. He had high praise for Keylan.
“Keylan has as much scoring talent as any 10th grader I have ever coached,” said Coach Allison.
Boone certainly tore it up offensively on Saturday night, but it was not just a one sided show. He rebounded the ball extremely well in the post on both ends and brought intensity on the defensive end. Boone feels he is starting to figure it out at Tulsa Memorial.
“It took me awhile to find what Coach Allison was looking for to contribute to the team,” said Boone. “I’m ready for more.”
With Boone finding his stride it really takes Tulsa Memorial to another level. Saturday was not the end for Boone, but just the beginning. Boone knows he has to continue to work hard on his game.
“I have to work on my ball handling and defense,” said Boone. “Other than that I’m going to keep up my effort on both ends of the floor.”
Boone has High Major Division I potential if he can bring his game to where it was on Saturday night in and night out. Keep a close eye on Keylan Boone in the 2019 Class.
