Freshman Zach Lasek has established himself as one of the best newcomers in Iowa. And sophomore Trey Lasek is gaining a reputation as the team’s defensive stopper.
And it’s 5-foot-11 senior point guard, Trent Lasek, whom is the wily vet.
“It’s definitely something that doesn’t happen very often, it’s a pretty cool opportunity to be able to play with them. And having Zach down there at 6’7 is something we’ve never really had at Highland, so it’s nice to have someone to protect the rim who is coordinated enough to score as well,” Trent said.
“Trey provides a lot for us too, he’s a dynamic athlete and he’s very good at defense and prides himself on that.”
Trent added: “It’s pretty cool to play with them, it’s going to be a memory, and not many people get to have this opportunity.”
Trey is averaging 10.4 points, 4 assists and 3 steals per game this season for the Huskies, but says he’s been neglected up to this point by college coaches.
“Right now I’m not really leaning towards playing ball in college. I can’t tell the future, if something comes up I might go somewhere to play basketball. But as of right now I think I’m just looking to go to Iowa and attend school there,” said Trent, who mentioned just one school that’s sent mail.
“Not really, no interest. I guess I’ve gotten some things from Luther in the mail, and that’s it.”
He did mention that if schools were to reach out to him, then he’d be very willing to listen.
“Definitely, if schools reach out to me or I get some more letters then I would consider it more,” said Trent. “Basketball is something I loved since I was young, and if I do get some letters there’s a possibility I could play. I do love the competition of basketball.”
