And with a very high G.P.A and equally impressive ACT score to pair with his skill-set on the hardwood, he could land at one of the nation’s best D3s.
“I’ve talked to a few schools, and I’ve heard a lot from University of Chicago lately, and I’m just waiting to hear back from them,” said Sieben.
“I’d say they’re probably my number one choice at this point, and I’m just waiting to see how everything develops with that.”
If that doesn’t pan out, there are a couple other programs that have shown interest.
“I know (University of) Indianapolis has sent me some stuff, and then my coach told me Cornell called and asked for transcripts, but that’s pretty much it.”
Sieben scored a 33 on his ACT — the highest possible score is a 36. And he also boasts a 4.3 G.P.A.
“Basketball is a big thing, but I know at Ottawa Hills we really stress academics, and that’s equally as important for me getting into college,” said Sieben.
As his senior season continues to unfold, he says it’s his added weight and some general guard skills where he’s seeing the most improvement.
“The biggest thing I’ve been doing is just trying to hit the weight room hard and get ready for the next level,” said Sieben. “And then shooting and ball-handling — those are the three biggest things that have been reiterated to me by coaches over time.”
In year’s past the talented guard has been asked to mainly score and take care of the ball, this season he’s asked to be the team’s leader.
“Each night I just have to come out there and be the leader of the team. I need to handle the ball on offense, and be the leader on defense and make sure everyone is doing the right thing,” said Sieben.
He added: “Winning is the number one thing, I want to go out there and make sure I’m playing hard and the best I can on both ends to give my team a chance to win. And personally, I don’t want to have any regrets this year.”
