With quite possibly the coolest name in all of high school basketball, Jaret Majestic hopes to have a “majestic” senior season at Melvern High School. As of now, he and his Melvern squad is 2-2. “We are kind of off to a rough start, but are getting better every day,” said Majestic.
Majestic describes his game as, “a shooter to start, but when I can’t get jump shots off I get to the rim and I’m finishing with either hand.” Majestic is a 93% shooter from the foul line. “Driving and getting to the line really helps my game out. Defensively, I’m always wanting to guard the other teams best player.”
This summer Majestic played AAU ball with the NEO Pirates. “We played in 6 tournaments and lost in the semifinals of each one.” During the off-season, Majestic worked on his strength more than anything else. “I raised my bench weight by 40 pounds just in the summer. I also worked on using my right hand (my off-hand) more.”
Majestic is currently being recruited by Malone University, University of Mount Union, and Marietta College. Malone University has offered a full ride. “I’m not really looking for anything particular in a school. I want to major in Accounting, so a school that specializes in that area would be a plus.”
Jaret said his goals going into his senior season are to make it to the state tournament. “We have the team to it. We lost to the state champions in the regional-semifinal by 5, but we were up 1 with a minute left.” Other goals for the season include shooting 40% from 3 and over 90% from the line. “I’d also like to win our league and win our district for the third time in four seasons.”
