“My game is built on driving, slashing to the rim, kicking out to others or pull-up jumpers,” Kitchens said. “I can hit the three streaky. I’m a score-first type of point guard.”
Kitchens says he and his teammates have gotten off to a really good start to the season.
“Our season has gone pretty good to start; we’re 4-1 (overall),” Kitchens stated. “I haven’t had to score much because my team is talented all-around and we haven’t really played in many big games yet. I’d expect you to see my scoring spike deeper into the season in tougher games on the schedule.”
In the classroom at the high school, Kitchens says he is a hard worker.
“I’m a pretty good student; 3.4 GPA in mostly AP classes,” Kitchens noted. “I try my best in the classroom at most times. I look at my grades as a way into college after the scholarships come for basketball. They’re pretty important.”
Although he hasn’t received any direct offers or been shown any interest yet, Kitchens says that college coaches and programs should start to reach out because he gives his all.
“When I start to truly perform in games, my driving ability and craftiness with the ball will open coaches’ eyes,” Kitchens added. “I can read plays at an above-average level and I’m not a one-dimensional guard anymore. I’ve added shooting around the perimeter to my game. All in all, my performances deep into the season will define my future and AAU.”
