Cole Wiltgen (Gehlen Catholic) — 26 points on 9-12 FGs, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals
A do-it-all point guard for the Jays, Wiltgen put his diverse skill-set to full use during a 23 point shellacking of MMCRU last Monday. Those efficient shooting numbers are what put this performance over the top.
Joe Smoldt (Gladbrook-Reinbeck) — 25 points, 11 assists, 6 steals
In typical Gladbrook-Reinbeck fashion, Smoldt’s Rebels raced out to a 47-11 lead over Janesville last Monday night. And while the 25 points are actually under his season average (30.4), the steals and assists were eye-opening.
Jake Hilmer (North Linn) — 34 points on 12-18 FGs, 9 rebounds, 10 assists, 3 steals
This sophomore phenom is likely to make this list more than any other player in the state this season. He was just one rebound shy of what would have been quite an impressive triple-double in Tuesday’s win over a good Prince of Peace Prep quad.
Douglas Wilson (Hoover) — 24 points 10-13 FGs, 23 rebounds (12 offensive), 5 blocks
Wilson has been tenacious on the boards all season long, and this 23 rebound performance during last Tuesday night’s thrashing of Des Moines Lincoln is a nice example of that. He leads all of 4A in blocks (3.0) and rebounds (15.6) so far this season.
Bryce Robinson (Winfield-Mt. Union) — 26 points, 20 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals
He’s one of three guys on this list to come away with an impressive 20-20 performance last week. And while the points and rebounds were great, it’s the added assists and blocks that truly make this performance special.
Jared Nelson (Colfax-Mingo) — 26 points on 12-17 FGs, 21 rebounds
It was Nelson’s best game of the season. He posted the 20-20 game in an efficient shooting effort, and while leading the Tigerhawks to a 12 point win over Tri County, Thornburg.
Ben Obert (Coon Rapids-Bayard) — 26 points on 10-16 FGs (3-4 3s), 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks
It was a stat-stuffing night for the 6-foot-3 guard and they needed every bit of the impressive line to sneak by Paton-Churdan 59-56 last Tuesday. Obert leads the Crusaders in scoring this season, and is shooting at a very high clip.
Tyler Lienau (Jesup) — 26 points on 10-14 FGs (6-7 3s), 10 rebounds
His teammate Ethan Wyant has been written about plenty this season, but it was Lienau who dazzled last Tuesday in his team’s 14 point win over Jesup. And how about that outside shooting, good grief.
Mach Nyaw (Grand View Christian) — 25 points on 9-12 FGs (4-7 3s), 3 assists, 4 steals
What’s most impressive about Nyaw’s performance is that he did all that whole coming off the bench. It seems everybody on the Thunder has had a big game or two this season, last Tuesday night it was Mach’s turn.
Jaden Mixon (Clinton) — 35 points on 11-13 FGs, 7-7 3s
This 5-foot-11 guard was the leading returning scorer for the River Kings coming into the season, so his success isn’t completely unexpected. He’s averaging 18.8 per game, and went ballistic in a seven point win over Davenport North last Tuesday night.
