Iowa Player of the Week (3)
Tyrique Vesey (Davenport Central)
This 6’1 guard has gotten off to a sensational start to his seionor season. Last week he was his usual good self, especially defensively. Vesey and his Blue Devils won three games last week, and he averaged 18.3 points on 77 percent shooting (3-4 3s) 3.7 assists and a whopping 4.3 steals per win.
Kolby Molinsky (Carroll)
The veteran Carroll Tiger has been one of Iowa’s steadiest players the last several seasons. Last week was a nice example of just what he can be capable of. Iowa’s 29th-ranked 2017, Molinsky averaged 25 points on 56 percent shooting (9-18 3s) and 6.5 rebounds per game in two wins.
Janier Puente (Perry)
His Perry Bluejays have been disappointing this season, off to just a 1-4 start. Last week though they picked up their first win of the season against ADM, and Puente was sensational, going for 32 points on 15-20 shooting while also snaring 15 rebounds. In an early week loss to Norwalk he netted 21 points and grabbed 8 boards.
Austin Roetman (Pocahontas Area)
We’ve been writing Roetman’s name a lot this season so far, he’s been incredible for the Indians. Last week his squad won two games and improved to 6-1. Roetman averaged 30.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5 blocks in the two wins.
Drake Brewster (Cedar Rapids Kennedy)
Kennedy has been one of the better teams in 4A so far this season, and Brewster is a big reason why. The 6-foot-6 forward leads the team in scoring, and was particularly effective last week. He notched a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) in a win over Dubuque Senior, and went for 25 points and 4 steals in another win over Cedar Rapids Washington
