The Basketball Interview with Landon Torneten
After spending last season as a role player for Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln, 2017 wing Landon Torneten is now the Lynx’s star. A long, athletic, playmaking wing, he has committed to play his college basketball at NAIA Briar Cliff. This is “The Basketball Interview with Landon Torneten”.
Q: What is your favorite part of game day at Abraham Lincoln?
My favorite part about game day is the atmosphere. Everyone in the school looks forward to each game. All the teachers and students wish you luck in the hallway. It’s a great feeling.
Q: Who is the most difficult player to defend in the state?
When we were at the state tournament last year we played Cedar Falls and A.J. Green. You never know what he’s going to do. Whether it’s a pull up or getting to the rack, he can do it all.
Q: Other than Lincoln, which gym is your favorite to play in and why?
Wells Fargo Arena. It was an unbelievable experience playing there last year.
Q: If you had complete control over the schedule and could put anyone on it, who would you want to play?
Iowa City West, Hoover, Waukee, West Des Moines Valley. A lot of teams overlook our district and conference. It would be nice to play these teams just to see where we stack up.
Q: Who is your favorite basketball player of all-time? Do you model your game after them or any other players?
Kevin Durant. He’s so versatile, he can do it all. I’d say I try to model my game after him.
Q: What is the best piece of coaching advice you’ve ever received?
From Coach Isaacson, “Attack every 24,” he says. It motivates me to make the most of each and every day to be the best person I can be whether it’s in the classroom or on the court.
