And still with plenty of time left to see how each path unfolds, that lack of clarity seems OK.
“People ask me that all the time and it’s the hardest question to answer, because I’m right in the middle. I like them both a lot and that’s going to be the hardest decision for me is picking one,” said Bramel, who excels as an offensive tackle for the Rebels.
“I feel like I’ll have more opportunities and a brighter future with football, but I really like basketball a lot. I’m just going to finish high school and see where the future takes me.”
In terms of actual college interest, it’s football where he’s seeing more attention so far.
“More for football than basketball. And for football I’m hearing from Western Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky, and then a couple NAIA’s from around the state,” said Bramel.
“I haven’t gone on any visits for basketball yet, just a couple letters here and there, like Kent State invited me to a camp, and some other D3 schools around Kentucky.”
A big and strong post, Bramel credits his football lifting routine for some of his basketball success.
“I play football too so I’m always lifting, and I feel like I’m pretty strong,” he said. “I can’t really beat you with my athleticism, I just have to be smart and use the right post-moves. And I like to pump-fake and help spread the floor and get my teammates involved.”
He’s still in-season for football, but will transition to his junior basketball season immediately after.
“We had a really good center last year so I didn’t get much playing time, but I learned a lot. And I’ll have to be a leader and help all the younger guys, we’re going to be a young team,” said Bramel, who went over some personal goals of his.
“I don’t really have too much collegiate interest for basketball, so I just want to get my name out there a little more. And winning is always the most important, and I just want to keep improving.”
