Recruiting Report: Brantly Thompson (2017)
Last night Tuttle 2017 Guard Brantly Thompson committed to Oklahoma Baptist University. The basketball program at Oklahoma Baptist fit Thompson well. He was excited to get the recruiting process out of the way heading into his senior season at Tuttle.
“It is really exciting,” said Thompson. “It gives me relief and time to focus on the season and getting better.”
Thompson went on his official visit to Oklahoma Baptist this weekend. On campus Thompson fell in love with the atmosphere and college lifestyle.”
“The atmosphere at OBU,” “I fit well with what they do. I love the coaching staff. I have known Coach Hankins for a longtime and Coach Wooldridge. The relationship I have with the coaching staff is really good.”
Oklahoma Baptist is a program on the rise in the Division II ranks. Recently Oklahoma Baptist made the jump from NAIA to the NCAA Division II level. The Bison have taken their lumps, but are primed for a good season as the transition continues. The commitment of Thompson will provide Oklahoma Baptist with a player that can contribute from the Wing right away. The Men’s basketball program has recently underwent several renovations.
Tuttle is coming off a disappointing year after going to the state tournament a year before. However, the Tigers were very young last year with the exception of Thompson. This year Tuttle is one of the favorites to get to the state tournament in Class 4A.
“I’m excited and ready for the season to get going,” said Thompson.
Thompson will be the leader of the Tuttle Tigers. He excels on the court with an extremely high basketball IQ, toughness and an improving jump shot. Over this past summer Thompson proved he could shoot and score the basketball against quicker, taller and bigger players. The addition of the three-point shot has taken Thompson’s game to new heights.
Oklahoma Baptist snagged the 25th prospect in the Oklahoma 2017 Class. Thompson is the first piece of what could be a special class for Oklahoma Baptist.
