The 6-foot-3 senior chose the Bulls over Kent State, Toledo, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Fordham, Tennessee-Martin, Southern Utah, St. Bonaventure, Akron and Indiana State.
Buffalo was his third and final official visit.
“My first official was to Fordham, and that was very fun, and then I took an official to Toledo, and then I took one to Buffalo,” said Graves.
“They’ve (Buffalo) had a good run, they’ve won the MAC the last couple years and I got along with the coaching staff really well. And they added Lindsey Hunter to their staff, and he used to play in the NBA and has a lot of connections, and I like that.”
Aside from the NBA connects on staff with the Bulls, Graves mentioned that an opportunity to come in and make an immediate impact was a key selling point for him.
“They’re looking for me to come in and play right away either at the one or the two, and they said my style of play fits theirs, and I like that,” said Graves.
After a very successful junior season with the Fighting Irish, in which he averaged 17 points per game, he now can shift his focus to his senior season.
Graves discussed personal and team goals with PHOH.
“I’ve really been working on my pull-up game the most, and coming off ball-screens because that’s what I’ll be doing a lot of in college,” said Graves, who mentioned a personal goal of his for this winter.
“Last year I was first team all-district and second team all-state, so I’d say first team all-state is a personal goal of mine.”
He added: “I’ll do a little bit of everything for our team, whatever I need to do to help us win. If I have to score I’ll do that, or I’ll distribute.”
