7th REGION
STATE CONTENDER: Trinity (27th District) (29-7 last season)
Trinity looks to make it back to Rupp Arena for the 2nd straight year and they have the roster to do so. Sophomore David Johnson has emerged as one of the state’s leading 2019 prospects, already getting visits from both Louisville and Kentucky. Jacob King returns for his senior season and will run the show at the point guard position along with Lucas Burkman, a sharpshooting senior looking to make up for lost time due to an injury last year. Burkman averaged 10.8 points and shot 45% from behind the arc.
NEXT TO CONTEND:
Ballard looked to be a top favorite before the loss of David Sloan (ineligibility and out-of-state transfer). Sloan transferred back to the Louisville area after a successful tenure at Taylor County. The KHSAA ruled him ineligible at Ballard, so Sloan took his talents out of state to Concord Academy in Florida. But don’t count Ballard out just yet. Always a contender in the 7th region, Ballard returns senior guard Jamil Wilson and senior forward Clivonte Patterson. Wilson averaged more than 17 points last season.
