STATE CONTENDER: Harlan County (52nd District)
Harlan County won the 52nd district championship and competed in the regional semifinals last season and return everyone who participated. In a region with a hand full of contenders, you can’t deny the Bears experience. They return 6’6 senior guard Treyce Spurlock, a shooter who averaged 15.2 ppg last season as well as leading scorer Cameron Carmical (17 ppg). Harlan County hopes to have the guard duo shoot the Bears into the state tournament.
NEXT TO CONTEND:
North Laurel returns Eastern Kentucky University commit Peyton Broughton, who averaged 22 ppg last sesaon. Along with Broughton, the Jags return Bryson Asher, a 6’7 senior who could easily average a double-double this year.
Corbin returns arguably the best player in the region in Andrew Taylor. The 6’3 junior guard is one of the best in the state. He averaged almost 26 ppg last season to go along with 8 rebounds. Corbin finished the season last year 19-11. They also return senior guard Zach Maguet who averaged 11 points last year.
