Kinston, NC in general has become a nesting ground when it comes to Eastern North Carolina (ENC) basketball recruiting. The current sophomore performed well enough as a freshman and on the AAU circuit to garner several offers and interest from notable programs.
“Old Dominion, Tulane and Fayetteville State have offered. I have interest from Xavier, Arizona State, Virginia Commonwealth, Georgetown, Wake Forest, North Carolina State and East Carolina University. Right now, I would say NC State has been on me the hardest.”
History has shown that it can be easy for young recruits to become complacent. Dunn however insists on continuing to work on his weaknesses and set goals for himself through the process to stay ahead of the curve.
“I’m working on becoming more consistent with my jump-shot, getting some more lift on it. Also working on keeping my handle tighter, taking care of my body and staying in tip top shape.”
When asked what his specific goals are for this next season, Dunn responded with four main points.
1. Win the conference.
2. Win the State Championship.
3. Make my teammates better.
4. Continue to improve myself on the court and off the court.
It’s those types of goals combined with his size, youth, humility and skill that has led to the attention he’s garnered early in his high school career. Make sure to watch the video listed below of Dunn competing as a freshman. It contains a few flashes of his skill and shows the potential that caught the eye of several college programs at such a young age. It’s going to be fun tracking his recruitment and his play over the next few seasons.
