Competing on what was a very deep team that made it within 1 game of a state title birth, Clifford provided a steady hand at the point guard position. In addition to sporting a 3.6 GPA in the classroom, Shaw provided athleticism, savvy ball-handling, knockdown shooting and extra scoring when needed for the 27-2 Northeastern Eagles last season. He’ll enter into his junior year with a more defined role and will undoubtedly attract more and more college attention as the season moves forward.
PrepHoopsNC: What was the experience like as a sophomore coming within one game of a State Title berth?
Clifford: The experience last year making it to the game before the championship was a blessing, even though we didn’t get there. We surprised a lot of people and doubters. We worked hard every day as a team and this upcoming season we definitely have some unfinished business to take care of.
PrepHoopsNC: What are your goals for this season?
Clifford: My goals for this upcoming season are to continue getting better as a player, to win the conference, win the conference tournament, win the Christmas tournament & ultimately win a State Championship.
PrepHoopsNC: What have you been working on in the offseason?
Clifford: I’ve been working on my game defensively, being able to defend tough competition & I have been working on being more of a leader on the court and for the team in general this upcoming season.
PrepHoopsNC: Who do you currently have interest from? Have you taken any visits?
Clifford: I currently have interest from Lyon College, Pfeiffer University, Penn State Harrisburg, & Hampden-Sydney College. Lyon, Pfeiffer, & Penn State Harrisburg all invited me to their team camps & there’s some other schools I’ve talked to as well.
